Grazing Operation Compliance

Navigating San Francisco Bay Regional Grazing Compliance (Order No. R2-2025-0021)

Managing runoff from your grazing operation is a necessary part of protecting the environment and ensuring the long-term viability of your ranch. The San Francisco Bay Area Regional Water Quality Control Board Order No. R2-2025-0021 (WDR for Grazing Operations) sets strict requirements for water quality planning. Failure to comply can lead to unnecessary stress,

costly delays, and potential enforcement actions.

Expertise in Ranch Water Quality Planning (RWQP)

Compliance doesn’t have to be complicated. Our civil engineering team brings direct experience in agricultural projects, specializing in the regional requirements for Sonoma and Marin Counties. We help you confidently traverse the Regional Water Quality Control Board’s (RWQCB) requirements, focusing on the development and implementation of your Ranch Water Quality Plan (RWQP).

Comprehensive Assessment: Identifying Risks and Opportunities

We begin by providing an in-depth, hands-on assessment of your current operations. Our goal is to understand the land thoroughly—not just to find problems, but to identify the most practical and efficient solutions.

We assess:
  • Current Grazing Lands: Analyzing use patterns and soil stability.
  • Existing Streams and Waterways: Identifying critical runoff paths and sensitive areas.
  • Water Quality Infrastructure: Evaluating existing controls and identifying gaps.
Implementing Practical, Industry-Standard Management Practices

Based on our assessment, we identify and implement industry-standard erosion and sediment controls—also known as Management Practices (MPs)—that fit your specific operation. Our focus is on practical, effective solutions that keep your water quality plan compliant without compromising the efficiency of your ranch.
